All referral fee arrangements at The Berhe Law Firm are structured in strict compliance with California Rule of Professional Conduct 1.5.1, which governs the division of fees among lawyers who are not in the same firm.
Under Rule 1.5.1, a fee may be divided between lawyers who are not in the same firm only if: (1) the lawyers agree in writing to the fee division before or within a reasonable time after commencing work, including the terms and each lawyer's share; (2) the client is informed in writing of the fee division and the terms, and does not object; and (3) the total fee is not unconscionable.
We handle all documentation, disclosures, and client consent requirements. Referring counsel retains no ongoing responsibility for the representation unless otherwise agreed in writing. Every arrangement is transparent, documented, and centered on the client's best interest.
